Ms.Vandana Suri - Category Head of Premium Fabric Wash at HUL

Ms.Vandana Suri did her Bachelors’ Degree in Economica and MICA from Ahemdabad. She currently holds position of Category Head, Premium Fabric Wash at HUL since December 2014. From July 2011 to November 2014 she held the position of Sr. Region Brand Manager. Before joining HUL she worked at Pepsico as General Manager and Category Management Insights Manager.

Mr. T. D Mohan - Joint Managing Director Cavinkare Ltd, India

Mr.T.D. Mohan joined CavinKare in 2007 and is currently the Joint Managing Director. Mr. T.D. Mohan is a graduate from St. Josephs College, Trichy in the field of Economics. He completed his post graduation in M.A. Economics from Annamalai University of Chidambaram. After 4 Years of experience in the public sector he joined the supply chain division of CavinKare Pvt Ltd. in the year 1990 which was known as Chik India at that time. Mr Bradley Anderson - Technical Head, Procter & Gamble India Ltd

Mr. Bradley A Anderson was born in New York and did his B.S. Engineering at Lehigh University. He joined P&G in April 1988. In 1997 he rose to a position of Group Manager-Clairol- Colorants & Hair Care and later he also worked as Plant Manager-Greensboro, North Carolina-USA and at Seaton, Delaval, New Castle, UK.

In 2011 he held the position of Manufacturing-AD at Duracell and later as Manufacturing –AD-Paper Sector in 2014.

Currently he holds the position of Plant Manager – P&G Hygiene & Health Care Ltd., Goa Plant.

Mr. Anderson is married to Denise and has three children, Katherine, John and Caroline.

Dr. Rakesh Sinha - Head Global Supply Chain, Godrej Consumer Products Ltd, India

Dr. Rakesh K. Sinha heads the Global Supply Chain, Manufacturing and Information Technology at Godrej Consumer Products Limited, the flagship company of the Godrej Group.

Dr. R.K.Sinha is a B.Tech. in Mechanical Engineering and a post graduate from NITIE. He joined Godrej Soaps as a Management Trainee in 1980 and completed ICWA, CFA and Ph.D. from IIT-Bombay while working with Godrej. He holds the distinction of being the first doctorate in Supply Chain Management in India.

Dr. Sinha has headed several functions in Godrej Consumer Products including Supply Chain, Marketing, Strategic Planning and Information Systems. He has served on the Board of Governors of ICFAI. He is currently on the Academic Council of NITIE and the Academic Board of Welingkar Institute. He is actively involved in several key initiatives of the company, like TOC and Efficient Consumer Response (ECR). He is a guest faculty at several leading Management Institutes in India.

Dr. Venkatesh Shankar - Head - QA/QC - HPC, Ex-Patanjali Ayurved Ltd, India

Dr. Shankar currently heads the Quality and NPD functions of Home and Personal Care team at Patanjali Ayurved Limited. He is responsible for Basic R & D of Home Care segment, including Laundry and House Hold Care and associated New Product Development, Consumer in-sights and Quality Assurance and Control. He operates seamlessly across categories to ensure that the Company continues to leverage scale and create and identify white space for products based on diverse consumer needs. He leads a team of doctorates, technologists, chemists, microbiologists and consumer scientists to create and innovate differentiated consumer products, that “wows” the consumers, straddling across the pyramid. He represents Patanjali at various national and international forums and boards.

Prior to Patanjali Ayurved Limited, Dr. Shankar was associated with Unilever Global R & D, for 15 years, during which he handled a diverse range of roles and responsibilities including Laundry, House hold care and Water.

Dr. Shankar holds a Ph.D in Condensed Matter Physics from Bhabha Atomic Research Center and a Masters in Solid State Physics, from Madurai Kamaraj University. He has several national and international papers, as well as patents to his credit. He is also a reviewer of various International journals.

SESSION - III SUSTAINABILITY - Session Chairman: Unilever (Mr. Rajendra Dobriyal)

Mr. Joe Phelan - Director, World Business Council Sustainable Devlopment, India

Joe is India Director of the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, a CEO-led organization of nearly 200 forward-thinking companies that work to make more sustainable businesses more successful.

Joe and his team work to raise the profile of Indian business perspectives and solutions through the World Business Council for Sustainable Development, and to scale up joint action by business in support of India's development. He currently overseas programs engaging more than 40 companies in action in India in areas such as energy, water, workplace sanitation, better cities and more resilient agriculture.

Prior to joining WBCSD, Joe held senior roles with the Prince of Wales Business Leaders Forum. Highlights included a series of special reports with the Financial Times on business and sustainable development, the development of the World Business & Development awards with the United Nations and ICC, and programs in skills, inclusive business, and anti-corruption.

Born and educated in the UK, Joe has worked in India since 2009 and lives in Delhi with his wife, a novelist, and their daughter.

Mr. Norman Ellard - President, IP Specialities Asia Pte Ltd, Singapore

Mr. Norman Ellard was born in London UK and emigrated to Canada in 1965. Attended University of Toronto for Math and Physics.

Joined P&G Canada in 1973 as a sales person in the consumer business. Joined the Chemicals Division in 1977. Held positions of increasing responsibility to assume the position of Manager, Chemicals Canada in 1988. Moved to Cincinnati, OH USA in 1990 to assume the role of International Sales Manager, responsible for Asia, Latin America and Canada. Responsible for the start up of P&G Chemicals Asia business (oleochemicals) as the FPG Joint Venture was started in 1993. In 1996, became Global Sales Director for P&G Chemicals. Besides responsibility for over $1 billion sales, also had various responsibilities over this period for all advertising and external relations for P&G Chemicals. Ultimately also assumed responsibility for New Business Development such as Food Ingredients and various bio ventures.

Relocated to Singapore in 2005 and became responsible for all the P&G Chemicals Asia business and MD of FPG. Responsible for multi million dollar projects in this arena.

After almost 35 years with P&G and over 30 years in the Oleochemicals industry retired from P&G October 2008 to pursue other interests and stay in Singapore as Director of Rohen Pte. Ltd in Singapore, a company engaged in consulting and trading. As of July 1st 2013, he assumed the role of President, IP Specialties Asia Pte. Ltd, a newly formed subsidiary of IP Specialties LLC. IP Specialties is a global team of oleochemical experts with offices in Cincinnati, OH, USA, Hamburg, Germany and Singapore, trading oleochemicals and other products by creating opportunities and solving problems.

Over his career, he has been active in the Canadian Chemicals Producers Association, American Chemical Council and American Cleaning Institute (formerly SDA) as well as recently with the AOCS.

Dr. Pravir Deshmukh - Counsellor, CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development

Pravir has Ph. D. Degree in Botany with a topic ‘Assessment of Floristic Diversity in Chenab Catchment Area, Himachal Pradesh’. He also published research paper on ecological studies of Lahul Valley, HP with specific reference habitat demarcation of rare and endangered plant species. He has more than 12 years of experience in the filed for Environmental and Biodiversity Impact Assessment studies in Himalayan region, Western Ghats and other parts of India. He has extensive experience in development and implementation of management plan on environment and biodiversity in India & Nepal.

At CII-ITC Centre of Excellence for Sustainable Development he is working for the India Business & Biodiversity Initiative (IBBI). IBBI is a business-led national platform to design, implement and mainstream biodiversity conservation by Indian businesses. With 26 signatories, it collaborates with MoEFCC, NBA, GIZ, WWF and UNDP.

Ms. Natasha Tuli - Managing Director, Soulflower P T Invent India Pvt. Ltd., India

The rise of women entrepreneurs and business leaders across the nation has come into focus as the country surges on a promising trajectory to meet its potential as one of the fastest growing economies of the world. One such dynamic entrepreneur, Ms. Natasha Tuli, a Soulflower girl and the co-founder CEO at Soulflower, who chose to translate her passion into a viable and robust business, heads the design and conceptualization at her company.

Although she belonged from a family having a Bollywood background, she was pretty sure that her interests and career lay elsewhere. she started as an architect and worked on large scale landscape projects like Leela Hotel, Bangalore; Sun N Sand Hotel; Reliance, Jamnagar and German Remedies. In April 2004,sheI founded N Square Architects which specialized in landscape interiors and turn key projects for almost 3 years.

Later on, she had been awarded a scholarship for a specialized study of supply chain management at Indian School of Business (ISB) by Goldman Sachs ‘10000 Women Programme’ for Women entrepreneur, where she was endowed with the Best Business Plan Award for Soulflower. She employed this knowledge at Soulflower, which was later nominated for Best Supply Chain Management Awards by one of the most prestigious, the Economic Times Retail Awards. She has also been rewarded with Certificate in Theory of Constraints (TOC) for Retail, Goldratt Consulting in January 2015.

Dr. George Smith - Tech Mgr, HI&I/Pers Care, Huntsman

Smith has a Ph.D. in Physical Chemistry from the Institute of Applied Surfactant Research at the University of Oklahoma and is currently a Research Fellow at the Huntsman Corporation, managing the Home and Personal Care and Industrial Additives technology group for the Americas.

Smith has been a member of ACS since 1986, AOCS since 1998 and SCC since 2005. He received the Samuel Rosen Memorial Award for Applied Surfactant Chemistry in 2005. Smith is a past AOCS S&D Division Chairman and is a member at large on the AOCS governing board. He is currently the Editor-in-Chief for the Journal of Surfactants and Detergents.

Smith has published over 20 articles and book chapters on applied surfactant chemistry and holds over 30 US patents.

Ramesh Surianarayan is a Pharmaceutical scientist, from university of Madras and University of Cincinnati, Ohio, USA . He has about 33 years of industrial and about 4 years of academic experience. He has held senior positions as Head - regional technology center - Unilever, at Mumbai, Technology platform manager- Global Technology Centre, Unilever at Japan, Director -- R&D Himalaya Drug company. Since July 2013, he was associated with JSS University, Mysore, as an associate professor in the department of Pharmaceutics.
During his 4 years stint at JSS university he had initiated and implemented M.Pharm program in Cosmecutics and M.Sc program in Cosmetic science apart from his participation on other academic and research activities of the university Ramesh Currently has moved to Chennai and is involved in field of pranic energy and healing and evaluating further scientific research in this area of science.

Mr. Mohamad Hafiz Bin Jamaluddin - Marketing Director, Lion Eco Chemicals Sdn. Bhd, Malaysia

Mr. Mohamad Hafiz Bin Jamaluddin has done his Bsc. Chemical Engineering from Purdue University, U.S.A.
He started career in 1993, worked in companies in the field of Fatty Acids, and Palm derivatives, Oleo Chemicals till 2010, before joining Lion Eco Chemicals, producer of MES. He rose through the ranks to finally find a place as a board member of the company.

Dr. Ashim Dutta - Head R&D, India Glycols

Dr A.K. Dutta, presently works with India Glycols Limited as their Vice President (Research & Development). He holds a doctorate in Physical Chemistry with specialization in Colloidal and Interface Sciences. As a post-doctoral researcher he has worked in several institutes in Japan, USA & Canada. He has worked with Unilever in their Home and Personal Care Category as a senior scientist and senior product development manager and with United Phosphorous Limited and Indofil as their Global Head for Research and Development in Agrochemicals. He has published 40 research articles in refereed International Journals and has 4 patents. His research interest continues to be in the area of molecular organization in soft matter, ultrathin films and interfaces in addition to development of high performance innovative formulations for Agrochemicals, Home and Personal Care products.

Dr Nirmal Koshti - Head, Innovation Process, Galaxy Surfactants Ltd, India

Education: Ph.D. (organic chemistry) University of Mumbai, five years post-doc in American and English Universities (Texas A & M University, Texas USA, New Mexico University, Las Cruces, USA, University of East Anglia, Norwich, England).

Professional Experience: Has been looking after R & D division of Galaxy Surfactants since 1984. Currently he is Executive Director –Innovation at Galaxy Surfactants, India.

The primary areas of research and innovation have been, mild surfactants, UV absorbers, macromolecules/synthetic polymers, and anti-microbial preservatives for personal care. Green chemistry has been always at the heart of synthesis and large scale manufacture personal care ingredients.

Over 30 research publications from Academic research and over 40 international patents from Industrial research.

Ms. Julie Malbaek - Head Regional Marketing, Novozymes South Asia Pvt. Ltd.

Dr. Yash Parulekar - Senior Manager, Global Product Strategy and Stewardship MonoSol, a Kuraray Division

Dr. Yash Parulekar is the global lead on product strategy and stewardship at MonoSol, a Kuraray division. MonoSol is the world’s leading producer of water-soluble films used in packaging of laundry and automatic dishwasher unit-dose detergents. Yash has been with MonoSol since 2011 in various roles in technical marketing and business strategy development. His expertise areas include bio-based materials, water-soluble polymers, unit-dose detergents, and packaging and has to his name multiple patents and peer-reviewed publications. Yash is an active member of key detergent/cleaning industry associations and regulatory bodies in N. America (ACI, ASTM, CSPA) and Europe (AISE) where he represents MonoSol on sub-committees and task forces. Yash is also on the advisory board for packaging at Cal Poly University in the US.

SESSION - VII FUTURE TRENDS - Session Chairperson: Ms. Bhavna Shah - Malaysian Palm Oil Council

Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Yusof Basiron, Malaysian Palm Oil Council

Tan Sri Datuk Dr. Yusof Basiron graduated in Chemical Engineering and holds Masters Degrees ME (in Industrial Management) and MBA (Business Administration) and also a PhD in Applied Economics and Management Science. He was the Director General of Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB) for 14 years, and CEO of the Malaysian Palm Oil Council (MPOC) for 12 years, besides currently being a Board Member of Bank Negara Malaysia, CBIP Bhd (Milling) and Sime Darby Berhad (Plantation). He is a Senior Fellow and Past President of the Academy of Sciences Malaysia (ASM), and Fellow of The Incorporated Society of Planters and Malaysian Oil Scientists' and Technologists' Association. He is a Chartered Engineer and Fellow of the Institute of Chemical Engineers. He has been with the palm oil industry for 38 years, and he now works as Advisor to the Minister of Plantation Industries and Commodities Malaysia.

Mr. Sarang Panchal - Managing Director, MRSS India

Sarang Panchal comes with nearly three decades of Market Research experience. He started his career with Procter & Gamble where he worked primarily on new products. He then moved to the research side with MRAS [a boutique MR firm] as Research Manager. Subsequently, he assumed partnership at MRAS Burke between 1987- 1989, from where he joined Dun & Bradstreet as Executive Director in 1995. He spent two years in Dun & Bradstreet and then joined AC Nielsen in 1997 as Executive Director, where his profile included new product research as a core area of expertise. After being an Executive Director, he then was appointed Managing Director of The Nielsen Company, Asia Pacific for the customized division. He handled 17 countries during this period.

From 2008 till 2013, he invested in multiple businesses that included alternative construction, strategy, consulting and ecommerce.

He is now an investor and the Managing Director of MRSS India, India’s first and only Market Research Company that is listed on the BSE SME exchange. MRSS India offers customized marketing solutions with special focus on digital research.

Over the years, he has worked across industries ranging from consumer products, innovation, R&D research, financial services, e-commerce, media, business-to-business research, education, senior living, realty, auto, etc.

Academically, Sarang is from Campion School. He then pursued a degree in commerce from Sydenham College, post which he completed his Master’s degree in Management studies from one of the premier management institute of India- Jamnalal Bajaj Institute of Management studies (JBIMS). He has presented several papers during his career, besides having taught at several colleges and also conducted frequent guest lectures at Business schools and clients companies.

Mr. G Chandrashekar - Hindu Business Line

G. Chandrashekhar is an economist with passion for analyzing and commenting on agriculture, agribusiness and commodity markets (including industrial metals, base metals, precious metals and energy products) as also international trade and developmental issues. He is Masters in Economics and Masters in Law (Constitution & Administrative Law), Bombay University.

Ms. Martina Beitke - Sustainability Manager, BU-Industrial & Consumer Specialties, CLARIANT

Martina Beitke was born in 1980 in Berlin. She studied Political Science, Philology and English Studies at the Humboldt-University Berlin as well as European Studies at the King’s College London. In 2006 she worked as a trainee at Federal Foreign Office and in 2007 at the Committee of Law of the German Parliament.

End of 2007 she started at the German Association of Energy and Water Industries (BDEW) – first in Berlin and from 2008 in Brussels. At the BDEW Representation to the European Union she was in charge of topics such as renewable energies, environment, energy efficiency and climate change. In 2010, she joined the European Chemical Industry Council (Cefic) as Manager for Energy and Climate Policy. In this function she was responsible for the energy efficiency projects Care+ and SPiCE³ and managed several working groups in the energy field.

In April September 2014 Martina Beitke started as Sustainability Manager at the Business Unit Industrial & Consumer Specialties, located in the Global Marketing team in Muttenz. Being the overall focal point for sustainability in the BU ICS she is particularly responsible for the palm oil topic, e.g. RSPO (Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil) certification, traceability and value chain collaboration projects such as SPOTS. Likewise, Martina is in charge of the implementation of the Portfolio Value Program, the development of marketing concepts for our “EcoTain” sustainability excellent products and the management of several sustainability projects with key ICS customers.

Mr. Ian Bell - Head of Home Care, Euromonitor

Ian Bell is the Global Lead for the Home Group of industries (Home Care, Consumer Appliances, Home & Garden and Consumer Electronics) at Euromonitor International, which he joined in February 2001.
